Harvest times for fruit in the UK: Looking forward to fruit!

by

Here is a list of harvest times for fruit in the UK. These are approximate dates for fruit grown outside. Of course other fruits can be grown undercover and similar fruits will be available for harvesting sooner, but this list will give you a good idea of typical times when fruit is available for picking in the UK.

Harvest times for fruit in the UK range from March to November but the main harvesting time is between June and August, when lots of lovely fruit ripen.

Rhubarb is not technically a fruit but it’s on the list because it’s used like a fruit and it’s the first thing we can be using to make jams, pies and crumbles. It is the first thing that kicks off the new harvesting year and I, for one, and extremely appreciative of my rhubarb.

If you haven’t already got some rhubarb growing in your garden or allotment, see if a neighbour will let you split off some of their rhubarb root, buy a plant or grow it from seed.
